What are the issues of an ageing pop.?
A
- more welfare spending (e.g. pensions + other benefits)
- 2014/15: 55% of welfare spending was spent on pensioners, + is set to rise as elderly pop. does
- more pressure + spending on NHS, as older ppl require more healthcare
- higher demand for healthcare/social care professionals to support elderly pop., leading to pressure on these services when not enough labour available
- shortage of eco. active workers, so lower tax revenues (may need to inc tax.)

- valuable experience + expertise
- lower crime rates, less police needed
- elderly workers don’t need maternity leave + more willing to work + loyal
