Issues and Options Flashcards
When does gender bias occur during observations?
When researchers expect to see differing findings in men and women so the observations suffer from observer bias.
When researchers exaggerate, minimise, or ignore behaviours in one gender.
Could be because researchers have incomplete behavioural categories.
When have concultions been affected by gender bias?
When the conclusions exaggerate, minimise, or ignore the differences between men and women. In other words when there has been alpha or beta bias in the interpretations of the results of a study.
The media often try to misrepresent scientific findings and incorporate gender bias to sensationalise studies.
