Iso Pulmonary effects
Most decrease in tidal volume and increase in end tidal CO2 (equal to des). Causes respiratory depression. Less tachypnea than Halothane. MOST depression of ventilatory response to hypoxemia and hypercapnia. Similar hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstrictor response
Iso CV effects
Dose dependent decrease in BP from decreased SVR.
Mild myocardial depressant - worse with calcium channel blockers (CO does not increase even though filling pressures raise and SVR drops)..
Mild direct negative chronotropic effect (better than halothane)– will actually result in increased HR from indirect activiation of sympathetic & autonomic nervous system and baroreceptor response to hypotension.
Minimal arrhythmogenicity
Coronary vasodilation & decreased coronary vascular resistance
Does not cause coronary steal
Iso burst suppression at what MAC?
1.5, electrical silence at 2 MAC
