Q

Des Pulmonary effects

A

Most decrease in tidal volume and increase in end tidal CO2 (equal to iso). Extremely noxious pulmonary irritant, not good choice for inhalation induction and best to avoid patients with reactive airway disease. Respiratory depressant, causes slight tachypnea

Q

Des CV effects

A

If autonomic responses are removed- provides myocardial depression & arterial vasodilation similar to iso.. if not blunted will cause less but with more tachycardia. Autonomic Tone important for Des
Abrupt increases in Des leads to increased BP (30 mmHg) & increased HR (30 BPM)- doubling sympathetic nervous system activity and plasma epi concentrations.
Does not cause coronary steal
