Island Vents Vent Stacks and Yoke Vents Between DWV Stacks 060301c Flashcards
What is the purpose of a vent stack?
Limit pressure differentials
When is a vent stack required?
Every soil or waste stack that receives discharge from more than 4 storeys
What is the maximum amount of fixture units that may drain into a vent stack?
8 fixture units permitted that at least one fixture is connected to a vertical portion of the vent stack upstream of any other fixture
Where must fixtures draining into a vent stack be located?
All fixtures must be located in the lowest storey served by the vent stack
What fixture must be tied in downstream of all other fixtures when drained into a vent stack?
Toilet
What is the minimum size a vent stack may be?
Shall not be less than one half the size of the soil or waste stack at its base
What 2 vents does a yoke vent connect?
Soil or waste stack to a vent stack
When is a yoke vent required on a DWV system?
Where a soil or waste stack receives the discharge from fixtures on MORE than 11 storeys
Where are yoke vents installed on a system requiring yoke vents?
For each section of 5 storeys counted from the top down OR immediately above each offset or double offset
What distance above floor level must a yoke vent connect to the vent stack?
No less than 1 meter above floor level
What does the code state concerning fixtures that tie into the vertical portion of a circuit vent, additional circuit vent, offset relief vent or yoke vent?
Maximum of 2 fixtures may connect to the vertical section as long as fixtures have a minimum hydraulic load of 1 1/2 FU’s and must be connected symmetricaly by means of a double TY
When is an offset relief vent required in a plumbing system?
When the upper vertical section of a soil or waste stack passes through more than 2 storeys and receives a hydraulic load of more than 100 fixture units and has an offset of more than 1.5m
How must a stack be sized when it has an offset greater than 1.5m?
Must be sized as a branch or a building drain
