The Shahadah

Fating from dawn to dusk during the month of Ramadam
Hajj
the annual pilgrimage to Makkah; remembering the actions of Ibrahim and Hajira. Muslims should try to make at least once in their lifetime
Khums
Alms giving for Shi’a Muslims in addition to Zakah, an extra 20% of savings paid
Jihad
To struggle. The personal or collective struggle against evil

a sacred state involving ritual washing, prayer and wearing white
Hajji
someone who has completed the Hajj
Arafat
The place where prophet Muhammad preached his last sermon and pilgrims gather to pray

The two hills Muslims walk between 7 times at Hajj. Remembering Hajira’s search for water
Muzdalifah
The place where Muslims hold a night of prayer and rest during Hajj

where Muslims throw stones at the pillars to represent rejecting evil

war tht is believed to be sanctioned by God and comes with religious reward

Id-ul-Adha
a celebration of the prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son for Allah
Id-ul-Fitr
the celebration at the end of Ramadan that marks the end of fasting
Ashura
1) An important Shi’a festival remembering the battle of Karbala and the death of Hussein.
2) A minor Sunni festival celebrating the day of atonement when the slaves were freed from Egypt
