Why did Sunni and Shi’a Muslims split

A

Sunni Muslims believe that only the Qur’an and the Sunnah have the power to guide the beliefs and behaviours of Islam. Sunni’s selected Abu Bakr to be the next Caliph.

Shi’a Muslims believe that Ali should be the next leader of Islam because he was Muhammad’s cousin. They believe that the leader of Islam should be a descendent of Muhammad

Explain the Day of judgement

A

When gods purpose for the world has ended, he will destroy it.
The world will be transformed into a new world
Everyone who has ever lived will be resurrected and judged by God
If people are given the book of deeds in their right hand, they are to have an eternity with God
If people are given the book of deeds in their left, they are bound to an eternity of torture and hell

A

Heaven: ‘A reward for what they used to do’

Hell: ‘they will dwell amid scorching wind and scalding water in the shadow of black smoke, neither cool nor refreshing’

Explain life after death

A

For Muslims death is not the end, but the beginning.
After death, the stage between being resurrected is called Barzakh.
Angels are sent to question them about their life, if they are honest, they will be rewarded and vice versa
