how are the six beliefs of islam expressed today

Shi'a Tawhid - oneness of Allah All - Divine justice (Allah is just) Imamah - successors to Muhammad Nubuwwah - Prophethood Mi'ad - the day of judgment
What are Allahs characteristics (shown in the Qur’an)
Immanence - Allah is close and involved in the world
Omnipotence - Allah is all powerful, in control of everything
Beneficence - Allah is caring and loves his creation
Name two prophets and give info
Adam - first prophet (and human) to be created, tasked to look after the world (khalifa), teaches Muslims to care for Allahs creations
Muhammad - ‘the Seal of Prophets’, last prophet and received the last messages from Allah - the Qur’an
What do Muslims believe about the Qur’an
- revealed to Muhammad over 23 years
- written in Arabic
- ‘Qur’an’ means ‘recitation’-Muhammad was illiterate
- divided into Surah (chapters) and Ayats (verses)
- used in prayer and for guidance

Qur’an - mentions other holy books mentioned by Allah but corrupted over time, the last teachings
Tawrat (Torah) - given to Musa (Moses) containing important laws

Jibril - gave messages to Muhammad regarding the Qur’an over 23 years, taught Muhammad how to pray.
importance - without Jibril the messages of the Qur’an would not have been received
Today - to live around teachings of the holy book, reading it everyday
Explain the day of Judgement
- Allah will judge them on how they lived their life and their behaviour
- link between Al-Qadr and day of judgement, too late to beg forgiveness
- Sahih al-Bukhari 78:685 describes how people are responsible for their own sins
What are the implications of Al-Qadr
- Muslims want to live their lives according to the beliefs of there day of judgement to ensure a positive afterlife
- constantly aware of their thoughts, beliefs and action to ensure they behave as Allah wished (e.g. the five pillars)
- try to help others, this is what the Qur’an teaches
What are the Muslim beliefs about Akhirah
- angle of death takes the soul
- allah judges the individuals life
- on the Day of Judgement the body will be resurrected

- makes them more aware that Allah is watching

similarities between Christianity and Islam about life after death
Similarities - life is a test, places of eternal reward and eternal punishment, resurrection
Differences - Jesus’ sacrifice atoned all sins, Muslims believe only a sinner can ask forgiveness, Purgatory in catholicism is different to barzahk in Islam. Christinas don’t have angles recoding deeds of a person
