abdominal pain
- typically alleviated by defection
- change with severity and localisation
- diarrhea or constpation

abdominal bloating

dysmenorrhea
disturbed sexual function
depression
what is the diagnosis of IBD?
history and symptoms
alarmful - night diarrhea (NOT PRESENT IN IRRITABLE BOWEL DISEASE - most likely in CHRONS DISEASE ) , fever , bloody stools , weight loss , acute onset
MUST rule out DD
use ROME IV criteria
what is the ROME IV CRITERIA ?
recurrent abdominal pain on avergae of atleast 1 day per week during the previous 3 months
- pain related to defecation
change in stool frequency
change ins tol appearance or form
other symptoms consisted with IBS
family history of inflammatory bowel disease , colorectal cancer , celiac disease is UNUSAL IN PAIENT WITH bid
what is the treatment of IBD?
regular consultation nd dietary adjustment
plenty of fluid
high fibre
physical activity
stress management
antidiarrheal - loperamide
constipation -
osmotic laxative - polyetheylene glycol
chloride channel activator - lubiprostone
antispasmodic for cramping - dicyclomine
tricylcin antidepressants
