Card01: Two types of shots.

  1. Advancement shots: You play for position on next shot.
  2. Scoring Shots: Hit the green near the flag.

Drill 1/01: Find your range on every iron. Contact the ball then the turf.

Card02: Drill 1/02 P. 70. Establish good ball positions for setup on each iron.

Note: On a Driver, setup inline with left instep. This is a perfect sweeping position for Driver, 3-5 woods. After that 3 iron 1&¼ back, next 4 iron - add another 1&¼ measure then continue so on thru the wedges.

Card03: Drill 1/03. Start your swing with a forward movement.

I start my swing with a couple of waggles to define my TA path, then I start pivot along with Left foot raising weight to my RH side.

Card04: Drill 1/04, P.74. Find your weight balance for a good swing. Practice getting my weight balance during my waggle.

Card05: Drill 1/05 Find an intermediate target you can see while in the setup. Broken tee pointing at target works perfectly. It is against the rules to place this object between ball and target, but legal to place it a foot behind it if needed. Don’t forget you can use existing divots that are already setup for you. I use my legs to aim.

Card06: Drills 1/6 & 7 combined here.

Have Geri take a video of you swinging so you can see all the checkpoints of the swing.

P.78. Freeze frame all the right moves. Make a “stop-Go” swing motion and freeze frame the key positions. Have Geri snap a picture at each stop on my cell phone.

Also do same freeze frame facing mirror in basement. Practice picture of wrist hinge at 90 degree angle. Use baby club for ceiling clearance.

Card07: Find ideal swing speed.

  1. Fast as you can.
  2. Slow as you can.
  3. Split the difference to find “Just Right” swing speed.

Spend 10-15 minutes practicing Just right swing speed. Do this in the yard while hitting the foam balls.

Card08: Level 2/10 P,82. Try a rope drill.

Also a shadow drill. Shadow drills are great for watching if your head goes up and down on the swing. Set a marker in the yard, then move so the top of your head is right on that marker. Now make your swings and learn. Don’t need a ball for these drills.

Card09: Checkpoint: You should start DS at same speed you START TA!

Drill 2/13 Move your head to the right as your weight shifts backwards. You can check this watching your shadows.

Card10: Drill 2/16. Focus with left eye for solid strikes. Keep your head behind the ball at impact. If your head is behind the ball, your body cannot get ahead of the ball. Have the logo up on the ball so your left eye can see it. If you lose sight of the logo, your head is sliding toward the TARGET in your DS. Practice this until you can do it all the time. P.89.

Maintain this focus until CF makes impact.

Card11: Drill 2/17. Stay square in TA. The CF should stay square to the path of your swing.

If CF is still looking at ball after TA goes past your right hip, it is off the swing path. Pictures P. 91.

Card12: Drill 2/19. Throw a ball to improve your release. Use a soccer ball. Right hand must cross over left hand at impact.

This drill is like swinging the bucket of water.

Next is level 3 irons.
