Bronchospasm secondary to asthma or COPD
Bronchospasm secondary to airway burns, smoke inhalation or chest infection

MOA ( mechanism of action )
A
Bronchodilator
Ipratropium is an anticholinergic agent with predominantly antimuscarinic activity. It antagonises (blocks) acetylcholine receptors, causing vagal inhibition resulting in bronchodilation.

Dose and route
A
0.5mg ( 1 ampoule ) for children and adults
Given once with first dose of salbutamol
Nebulised 8L/m

A
Tachycardia
Dry mouth
Blurred vision

A
Onset: 2-5 minutes
Duration: 6 hours
