GTN Flashcards
1
Q
MOA
A
Vasodilator that acts on the smooth muscle to cause venous and arterial vasodilation
- Reduction in venous return ( preload ) reducing myocardial oxygen demand
- Arterial dilation, reduces peripheral resistance ( after load ). Force is reduced within the left ventricle reducing oxygen demand
2
Q
Indicators
A
Myocardial ischaemia
CPO
Control of hypertension with autonomic dysreflexia
Control of hypertension prior fibrinolytic treatment for STEMI
Control of hypertension for inter hospital transfer for STEMI
3
Q
Contraindications
A
Known sever allergies
Systolic lower than 100mmhg
HR faster than 150bpm
HR slower than 40bpm
Ventricular tachycardia
4
Q
Cautions
A
STEMI
-Small, frail, or physiologically unstable
-Poor perfusion
-Erectile dysfunction medication taken within last 24hrs
-Dysrhythmia
-Known atrial or mitral stenosis
