Involuntary movement Flashcards
Tremor in fingers due to agonist and antagonist action
Physiologic Tremor
Startle reactions that occur normally, may involve whole body or just large muscles. Often occur when you feel like you are falling before you fall alseep
Myoclonic Jerks
If Myoclonic Jerks occur regularly what might be happening
Seizure disorders
Twitches within muscles often after exercise and are not pathological
Benign fasciculations
Decreased movement and is seen in depression or parkinsons
Hypokinesia
Increased movement, exacerbated by emotional stress and decreased with repose
Hyperkinesia
Rapid tremor, low amplitude that worsens with volitional movement
Emotional tremor
Hereditary tremor that usually affects the hands
Familial Tremor
Similar to familial associated with aging
Senile tremor
Pill-rolling at rest, disappears or dampens with volitional movement
Parkinsonian tremor
Tremor that worsens with refind volitional movement
Intention tremor
Tremor that occurs during maintenance of an international posture, disappears with movement
Postural tremor
Random quick movements simulating fragments of normal movements
Nontremorus Hyperkineais
CHorea
Slow, writhing movements of the fingers and extremities that may come and go and are usually associated with pyramidal tract signs
Athetosis
Slow, alternating contraction and relaxation of agonist and antagonist with one movement predominating for a long time (Causing fixed joint contraction)
Dystonia
