Investigationg Heat theory Flashcards
what is the bodys normal temp
36-37 degrees cel
What is heat?
Heat is the thermal energy that transfers when something is hot and cold that is in contact. (Measured in joules)
What is temp?
Determines how quickly the particles are moving (measured in cel)
How does temp affect particles (name 3)
- ALL MATTER IS MADE UP OF PARTICLES
- Always in a contanst state of motion
- The more energy the particles have the more faster they travel
What is the heat capacity formula
Q=mc angle T
what is conduction
When particles gain energy from the hot substance. (Through solids) (contact)
example of conduction
a metal rod
what is convection
When particles gain energy from the source (doesnt need to have any contact)
example for convection
beaker getting hot by a bunsen burner
what is radaition
when you adsorb heat
example of radiation
heater
Infra-red radiation??
When you cant see the radiation but its there through shinyness??
Which color adorbs more heat
Dark colors
why does dark colors adsorb more heat
because the heat bounces off lighter coloured objects
what are some examples of heat in every day life
walking on fire or thermos
