Q

What are the four main processes involved in speech?

A
  1. Respiration
  2. Phonation
  3. Resonation

Q

What is the difference between quiet breathing and speech breathing?

A

Quiet (Tidal) breathing is breathing at rest, ~1/2 a liter of O2 is inhaled each inhalation and exhalation and inhalation are ~ equal in duration
Speech Breathing requires active muscle contractions, and the exhales are much longer than the inhales.
