Q

Lucency vs opacity?

A

Lucency: structures that let most photons through (dark)

Opacity: opposite (light)
*for plain radiographs

Therefore, white=dense grey=less dense black=least dense (air)

Q

Difference between fluoroscopy and radiographs?

A

Fluoroscopy is in real time- for GI, interventional purposes and blood vessels. Can also visualize soft tissues structures

Q

What does computed tomography (CT) measure?

A

Density

Less dense structures: darker

More dense: lighter

*good at seeing bone and soft tissue

Q

What is a con of radiographs/x-rays?

Not good for seeing soft tissues

*good for seeing bone (dense), cheap, readily available, first choice
