Intro to NS Flashcards
Explain basic structure of spinal cord (white and grey matter)
*****check
White: on outside/ myelinated
Grey: center
- poster=dorsal side: carries sensory/ afferent signals
- anterior=ventral side: carries motor/ efferent signals
- lateral= visceral efferent/ ANS/ motor system
- **double check this!!!!!!! Mentioned multiple times!
Which sections of the spinal cord are associated with sympathetic and parasympathetic activity/ where do their cell bodies originate?
Sympathetic: thoracolumbar area= T1-L4
Parasympathetic: craniosacral area= C3,7,9,10 & S2-4
Bipolar, multipolar and pseudopolar neurons
Where in body and what system are they associated with?
Bipolar(rare): in some retinal and olfactory nerves
Multipolar (most common): everything… Motor/inter neurons. Cells of cortex and cerebellum
Pseudo (mainly sensory): peripheral ganglia, pick up sensory info which goes to CNS
What is the location of CNS communication with the PNS?
In Ventral and dorsal roots of spinal cord
