What is developmental psychology?
The acquisition and changes in psychological processes from conception to old age
What is social psychology?
Scientific study of how people are influenced by individuals, groups and society
What is cognitive sociology?
Scientific study of basic mental abilities - perception, learning, memory language, problem-solving etc
What is the biopsychosocial model?
Regards health as a combo of effects of biological processes; psychological processes and social factors
Biology - genetics, anatomy, physiology
Social factors - family, society, ethnicity etc
Psychology - anxiety, depression, illness beliefs
What are health compromising behaviours?
Increases risk of disease or injury
- sedentary behaviours/exercise
- smoking
-diet
-alcohol
-low medication compliance
What are health promoting behaviours?
- healthy eating
-exercise - managing chronic conditions
-screening
