Psychology is empirical–what does this mean?
Empirical means it is based on observation or experience. Observation and experience are the basis for a theory.
Apart from being empirical, what else is psychology?
It is also theoretically diverse and dependant on socio-historical factors.
Define introspection
Self examination of one’s psychology (mental and emotional process.)
Define psychology, give me the word-for-word definition.
The science of behavior or mental process.
What is Maslow’s hierarchy of needs?
A way of measuring life requirements for human function. From bottom to top it is: Physiological needs(air, food, warmth, rest), safety needs, belongingness and love needs, and self-actualization, or achieving full potential and creativity of the self.
What is nature?
Pre-wired genetics and biology.
What is nurture?
External factors, learned behaviours, experiences, environmental factors.
