intrinsic muscles of deep back Flashcards
what innervates intrinsic musculature?
dorsal rami
layers of deep musculature?
superficial, intermediate, and deep
superficial muscles of intrinsic back?
splenius capitis, splenius cervicis
intermediate muscles of deep back?
erector spinae group
deep muscles of intrinsic back?
transversospinalis group and others
splenius capitis origin and insertion
origin: caudal half of lig nuchae and SPs of C7-T3/4
insertion: mastoid process and occipital bone inferior to lateral 1/3 of superior nuchal line
blood supply and innervation of splenius capitis?
innervation: dorsal rami of middle cervical nerves
blood supply: muscular and descending branches of occipital artery, superficial branch of transverse cervical artery
actions of splenius capitis
unilaterally roate head and head and bilaterally extend head and neck. ipsilateral rotation.
splenius cervicis origin and insertion?
origin: narrow, tendinous band from SPs of T3-T6
insertion: posterior tubercles of TPs of upper 2-3 CV
innervation and blood supply of splenius cervicis?
innervation: dorsal rami lower cervical nerves
blood supply: muscular and descending branches of occipital artery as well as superficial branch of transverse cervical artery
actions of splenius cervicis?
unilaterally draws head to one side and slightly rotates. bilaterally extends head.
muscles of erector spinae group?
iliocostalis (lumborum, thoracis, cervicis), longissimus (thoracic, cervicis, capitis), and spinalis (thoracis)
origin and insertion of iliocostalis lumborum?
origin: thoracolumbar fascia
insertion: lower borders of lower 6-7 ribs near angles
innervation and blood supply of iliocostalis lumborum?
innervation: dorsal rami of lumbar spinal nerves
blood supply: posterior intercostal arteries and lumbar arteries
action of iliocostalis lumborum?
extension and lateral flexion of vertebral column
