into the dorsum of hand (ulnar) or elbow (branchial)

the drug commonly used in midazolam (hypnoval) which is benzodiazapam

Pts must not

A

eat for at least 3 hours before the trt

pts must also have an escort + not operate machinery or sign legal documents for 24 hours following trt

Regulations

A

strict regulations that apply when giving sedations, there should be a qualified second appropriate person in room in face of emergency which is more likely to happen as pt can be inadvertently over sedated

A

a reversal drug (anexate) flumazenil must be ready in case it is needed as must the emergency drug kit
-a pulse oximeter should also be used during trt + there should be a designated recovery room
