A
HTN 2nd to Ischaemic stroke Trauma Tumour Vasculitis Carotid artery dissection Cerebral amyloid angiopathy

What 4 ways can intracranial pressure increase
A
Increased pressure on skull, brain and vessels = necrosis
CSF obstruction = Hydrocephalus
Midline shift = Tentorial Herniation
Coning = Brainstem compression

What are the symptoms of IC Haemorrhage
A
Same as Ischaemic stroke
-CT is crucial

How would you manage an IC Haemorrhage
A
Stop Anticoagulants
Control BP with IV drugs
Reduce ICP with mechanical ventilation/IV Mannitol

When would you refer a patient to neurologist
A
Hydrocephalus
Coma
Brainstem compression
