Whats is the internet of things?
it is a growing network of everyday objects from industrial machines to consumer goods - that can share info and complete tasks while you are busy with other activities eg sleep or work
What is the internet of things made up of?
it is made up of millions of sensors and devices that generate incessant streams of data - the iot can be used to improve our lives and businesses in many ways
What are the 3 main components that the internet of things is made up of?
The things (or assets) themselves
The communication networks connecting them
the information systems that make use of the data flowing to and from things that we use every day

Tracking behaviour - monitoring the behaviour of persons, things or data through space and time
Enhance situational awareness - achieving real time awareness of physical environment
sensor driven decision analytics - assisting human decision making through deep analysis and data
Automation and controlling some environmental situation characteristics of IOT
process optimisation - automated control of closed systems
optimised resource consumption - control of consumption to optimise resource use across network
Complex autonomous systems - automated control in open environments
