Drone deliveries example
Drone Deliveries are a result of “disruptive” emerging technology that makes use of big data and Artificial Intelligence Technologies. Domino’s Pizza in 2016, achieved a world first by delivering a pizza to a customer in Whangaporoa, cutting down delivery times by 75%!.
Drones use big data to:
Design flight paths using GPS data
To “see” obstacles in the flight path and avoid collision with other obstacles such as with normal traffic, pets and children at destination etc. They need to maintain altitude within given boundaries – neither too low nor too high, and in the future they need to be able to communicate with other drones in the airspace.

Artificial intelligence is a technology which enables a machine to simulate human behavior following the early concept of AI programming in robotics.
What is machine learning?
Machine learning is a subset of AI which allows a machine to automatically learn from past data without explicit programming – following the early concept of Artificial Neural Networks for Supervised and unsupervised learning.
Differences between ML and AI
Artificial intelligence is a technology which enables a machine to simulate human behavior.

The goal of AI is to make a smart computer system like humans to solve complex problems. The goal of ML is to allow machines to learn from data so that they can give accurate output.
In AI, we make intelligent systems to perform any task like a human. In ML, we teach machines with data to perform a particular task and give an accurate result.
Machine learning and deep learning are the two main subsets of AI. Deep learning is the main subset of machine learning.
AI has a very wide range of scope. Machine learning has a limited scope.
