Internal surfaces of hte body Flashcards
Stomach specific structure?
- Muscularis Externae - three layers
* Rugae, after ME - folds in stomach lining to increase surface area
Serosa stucture?
- Connective tissue
* Simple squamous mesothelium
Different layers? (four)
- Mucosa
- Submucosa
- Musuclaris Externae
- Serosa
Sructure of the GI mucosa?
- Epithelium (varies)
- Lamnia Propria
- Aggregations of lymphocytes called Peyers Patches
- Mucosal Glands
- Muscularis mucosae
Large intestine specific structures?
- Contains Crypts of Langerhans - tubular glands
Structure of the muscularis externae?
- Inner Circular layer
* Outher longitudinal layer
Structure of Trachea?
cartilage no serosa cilliated collumnar cells
Structure of the bronchiole?
- Epithelium (simple columnar cilliated - cuboidal)
- Smooth muscle layer
- Alveoli keep lumen open
- No cartilage
Structure of the bronchus?
- Smooth muscle layer before sub mucosa
* Cartilage also present
Structure of the alveoli?
- 90% simple squamous epithelium for gas exchange
- 10% simple cuboidal which secrete surfancant (separtes alveloi, increasing surface area)
- Macrophages destroy foreign material
Three places a serous membrane would be found?
- Peritoneum
- Pleural Sacs
- Pericardial sacs
Definition of a serous membrane?
Thin, two-part membrane which lines certain closed body cavities
What is the structure of a standard internal mucosa?
- Epithelium lining lumen
- Lamnia Propria, adjacent layer of connective tissues
- Layer of smooth muscle called muscularis mucosae
Structure of a serous membrane?
- A simple squamous epithelium which secretes watery lubricating fluid
- a thin layer of connective tissue which attaches epithelium to adjacent tissue
Viscral Serosa touching organ Parietal Serosa on outside
Three places a mucous membrane would be found?
- Alimentary tract
- Respiratory tract
- Urinary tract
