What are interjections?
A
Interjections are words or phrases used to exclaim or protest or command. They sometimes stand by themselves, but they are often contained within larger structures.
“Wow! I won the lottery!”
“Oh, I don’t know about that.”

Most mild interjections are treated as what?
A
Parenthetical elements, which is a part of a sentence that can be removed without changing the essential meaning of that sentence.
They are set off from the rest of the sentence with a comma or a set of commas.

If the interjection is more forceful, it is followed by what?
A
An Exclamation mark.
“Wow! I won the lottery!”
Interjections themselves are rarely used in formal and academic writing.
