Emotional bond between two people. Two way process that endures over time. Leads to certain behaviours such as clinging and proximity seeking and serves the function of protecting infant
Caregiver
Any person who is providing care for a child e.g. parent or sibling
Interactional synchrony
Mother and infant reflect both the actions and emotions of the other and do this in a coordinated (synchronised) way
Reciprocity
A description of how two people interact. Mother infant interaction is reciprocal in that both infant and mother respond to each others signals and each elicits a response from the other
