General intelligence (IQ) is scored the same at different ages, but inclides different abilities at each age (know what IQ scores mean)
A score of 100 is average, no matter what age you are
Intelligence is best viewed as an integration of general thinking ability, specialized knowledge, and processing skills
o IQ test scores correlate with grades and achievement test scores
o IQ is strong predictor or academic economic and occupational success

fluid intelligence
the ability to think on the spot by drawing inferences and understanding relations between concepts not previously encountered. Measured by object assembly, analogies, and ID tasks. (thinking on the fly) this goes down when you reach middle age
Some people think that we should test other aspects of intelligence not just what the current IQ test measures

Multiple Risk Model
- The more risk factors, the lower the IQ
- Not just living in poverty
- Poverty has a ton of negative consequences
- E.g. lack of medical care get sick more miss more school
