Indications

  • urethral obstruction : BPH; prostatic Ca
  • urethral injury

Method

  • USS guided insertion under LA
  • use of trocar

Contraindications

  • patient refusal
  • bladder cancer: due to risk of malignancy seeding
  • unexplained haematuria
  • previous lower abdominal surgery → adhesions

Complications

  • Seeding malignancy
  • Viscus perforation
  • Haemorrhage
