Instrument Takeoff
A
- Align Helicopter with desired takeoff heading.
- Maintain a level attitude with reference to the attitude indicator
- As the helicopter becomes airborn, move the cyclic control stick forward and adjust collective pitch as necessary for transition into forward speed climbing flight.
- Establish a rate of climb of at least 500fpm with reference to the altimiter and VSI.
- Maintain a smooth accceleration up to 120 KIAS with reference to the attitude indicator and airspeed indictor.
NOTE: Airspeed not reliable below 25 KIAS due to rotor downwash effect on the pitot static system.
