Instrument Takeoff

A
  1. Align Helicopter with desired takeoff heading.
  2. Maintain a level attitude with reference to the attitude indicator
  3. As the helicopter becomes airborn, move the cyclic control stick forward and adjust collective pitch as necessary for transition into forward speed climbing flight.
  4. Establish a rate of climb of at least 500fpm with reference to the altimiter and VSI.
  5. Maintain a smooth accceleration up to 120 KIAS with reference to the attitude indicator and airspeed indictor.

NOTE: Airspeed not reliable below 25 KIAS due to rotor downwash effect on the pitot static system.
