To be a professional flight instructor you should commit yourselves to continuous lifelong learning and professional development through study and service as well as membership to professional organizations.

Evaluation of demonstrated ability during flight instruction is based upon establish standards of performance, suitably modified to apply to the students experience in stage of development as a pilot
Keep students informed of their progress
Utilize good debriefs/critiques to keep students informed of there performance and give corrective suggestions to increase performance
Correct student errors - don’t stop students from making mistakes to quickly. Allow them to learn from there mistakes.
Make sure students truly understand the principles behind a maneuver by very the performance of the maneuver or procedure slightly.
Aviation instructor and exams
Instructors endorse students for knowledge and piratical test and are accountable for any deficiencies in performance.
All failed test must be reviewed and a new endorsement given within 60 days preceding the retest.
Before an endorsement is given for a practical test it is the responsibility of the instructor to make sure all prerequisite are met as well as having the student demonstration proficiency in all areas of the PTS/ACS.
Professional Development
It is the responsibility of the instructor to stay up to date on all information and new technologies/techniques used In flight instruction.
Ways to stay up to date and advancing:
Keep a current library of aviation informational material
Join professional organizations and attend learning events
Utilize the FAA website
