what is institutionalisation?

A

Children spending a long period of time, living outside of the family home in an institution, for example, an orphanage

This can result in the loss of personal identity and the child a dog in the rules and norms of the institution

This can impair cognitive functioning

What is reactive attachment disorder?

A

Extreme lack of sensitive responsiveness from a parent in early life

– Growing up, unable to trust or love others

– They become isolated and very selfish

– Lack of remorse, and can become sociopathic without conscience

what is a disinhibited attachment?

A

children select attachment, figures, indiscriminately and behaviour familiarly with complete strangers

– Being friendly and affectionate, usually young children show signs of stranger anxiety

– Children may adapt to having multiple caregivers during the sensitive period for attachment formation

– Institutional children may have all the behavioural disorders such as attention seeking

what is cognitive impairment?

A

Delete an intellectual development. The individual have a low IQ and problems with concentration.

They may have difficulty in learning, new concept and behaviours
