What do you look for in an exam of the neck
Jugular venous distention (jugular vein)
Tracheal position (flex and relax neck)

Why do you examine the head (4 reasons)
For facial expressions (determining mental status)
For nasal flaring (determining a sign of labored breathing)
Cyanosis of lips and tongue (indicates inadequate oxygen
Diaphoresis (indicates a sign of stress)
pupils that are dilated and fixed
mydriasis
pinpoint pupils
miosis
