Inorganic Chemistry - Group 7 (Paper 2) Flashcards
1
Q
what is the trend in reactivity in group 7 and why?
A
- the higher up we go in group 7 (halogens) of the periodic table, the more reactive the element
- when the outer electron shell is very close to the positively charged nucleus, the attraction between this nucleus and the negatively charged electrons is very strong
- this means it’s very reactive indeed
