Innervations & Circulations Flashcards
What area does the femoral nerve supply?
Anterior thigh muscles
What area does the obturator nerve supply?
Adductor thigh group
What nerve does the tibial nerve derive from? What nerves does into divide into?
The tibial nerve comes from the sciatic nerve, and divides into the medial and lateral plantar nerve
What does the medial plantar nerve supply?
Abductor hallucis, flexor digitorum brevis, 1st lumbrical muscle
What does the lateral plantar nerve supply?
Abductor digiti minimi, adductor hallucis, flexor digiti minimi brevis, and the interosseous muscles of the foot
What are the two main branches of the sciatic nerve?
Tibial nerve and Common Fibular (peroneal) nerve
What muscles does the deep (common) peroneal nerve serve?
Tibialis anterior, extensor hallucis and digitorum longus, peroneus tertius
What important anatomical landmark does the common peroneal nerve cross?
Head of the fibula, on the lateral leg just distal to the knee
What does the femoral nerve supply?
Quad muscles (rec fem, vastus med/lat/int), pectineus, sartorius
What muscles does the superficial peroneal nerve supply?
Peroneus brevis and peroneus longus
What is the primary flow of blood from the hips to the feet?
Femoral artery passes through the hips and down the anterior thigh, into the popliteal artery in the posterior knee. This divides into three arteries: anterior and posterior tibial arteries, and peroneal artery.
What area do the post tib and peroneal arteries supply?
Plantar foot and arch
What area does the anterior tibial artery supply?
The dorsal aspect of the foot
What area does the sciatic nerve supply?
The posterior thigh
What area does the saphenous nerve supply?
Medial thigh and medial calf
