Q

Explain how to remeber the blood:gas

A

N20 always 10 or 100 so 0.46 (4+6=10)

Des always 6 so 0.42 (4+2=6)

Sevo always 7 so 0.7

Iso start with 1.5 (1.46)

Enflurane add .4 =1.9

halothane add .6 2.5

Q

how do u remeber the order of uptake from slowest to fastest and he values of % equlibrated at 30 min?

A

first ask what is the anesthesiologist doing?

HE IS Doing Nothing (from bottom up slowest to fastest)

then remember halothane was made in the 50’s and add a decade going up on each one

Q

label each curve on the right withh the oil:gas partition coefficient Then tell me what you noticed??

A

A) halothane

B) enflurane

C) isoflurane

D) sevo

E) des

F) N2O

The graph doesn;t change- Oil:gas is potency and Blood:gas is onset. the more potent the slower onset. the least potent the faster onset.

Q

label each curve with the correct MAC value and tell me what you notice??

A

A) halothane

B) enflurane

C) isoflurane

D) sevo

E) des

F) N2O

The graph doesn;t change- Oil:gas is potency and Blood:gas is onset. the more potent the slower.

the more potent the lower MAC

Ex halothane is the slowest onset blood:gas 2.5 (highest), but has the lowest MAC (0.75) which makes it the most potent
