What is information management systems?
Any software that collects, stores, organizes and distributes information.

Define Data Input.
The raw data that is recorded on paper is entered on a computer. This data is received through internal or external sources.
Define Data Processing.
The raw data is processed into usable information manually or by using a computer.
Define data usage.
The information in the records is then used at administrative and departmental levels.
Define Data Retention
Documents that are released are destroyed if they are of no further use. Those that are required for the future use are kept and filed.
Define data storage.
Files are placed in a storage facility to keep them secured from unauthorized access, removal, duplication,tampering or destruction.
Define data retrieval.
Stored records can be retrieved by authorized personnel through requests.
Define data distribution.
The retrieved records are transmitted to the appropriate persons for further actions and then returned to preservation.
Define data preservation.
Preserving records for a specific period of time.
Define data disposition.
Records that are not useful are destroyed.
