Info to be Supplied to Master and Simplified Stab Tables Flashcards
1
Q
What information should be supplied to the Master?
A
- Minimum GM or Max allowable KG for a range of draughts and trims
2
Q
Describe the Simplified Stability tables?
A
- They are KG/ GM limit curves for different draughts and trims.
- They inform the officer if a proposed loading condition will comply with the intact and damage stability criteria.
3
Q
What is the purpose of Simplified Stability tables?
A
- Rapid and simple way for the Master to check if the vessel complies with the intact and damage stability criteria for its present condition.
4
Q
Method of use for the Simplified Stability tables?
A
- Calculate △ and KGe for the present condition.
- Compare this with the max permitted KG in Stability data booklet.
- KGe ≤ Max KG then it complies
- GMf ≥ min GM then it complies
5
Q
Effect of trim on KN values
A
- KN values will generally reduce (depends on direction of trim and hull form)
- Curve of statical stability will be similarly reduced
6
