Dengue fever
Aedes astyptii. Incubation 3-14 days.
1/ Fever
2/ Abrupt fever with back pain, transitory maculopapular rash
3/ Haemorrhagic - Bleeding, Plt <100, low alb, deranged LFTs
Malaria features
P falciparum <10 days - most severe disease
P vivax/ovale >21 days, benign. Rx chloroquine/hydroxy/ACT (if chloroquine R), If severe IV Artesunate.
Primaquine for anti relapse Rx 14days after chloroquine
Note no rash
Features of schitosomia haematonbium
Incubation 15-20 days
Fevers, cough, urticarial rash, painless haematuria, organomegaly, lymphadenopathy
Eosinophilia. Ova detected late >50d
Rx Praziquantel
Leptospirosis
Spirochete
Dx fever, myalgia, diarrhoea, conjunctival
Complicated by bleeding, jaundice, AKI, aseptic meningitis
Rx Amox, doxy, Ceftriaxone
Typhoid fever
Enteric fever incubation 7-21cdays
Sx fever, abdo pain, BNO, Rose spots
Gram neg bacilli
Rx Azithro/Cipro or IV Ceft
