infection control 1 Flashcards
Three main sources of transmission of diseases:
Patients with infectious diseases.
Patients in the prodromal stage of certain infections.
Individuals who are carriers of pathogenic organisms
three ways which transmissions may occur?
By direct contact of the tissues with blood
By droplets containing infectious agent
Via contaminated instruments.
3 stages of infectious diseases
Incubation
Prodromal
Acute

Convalescent carriers
Asymptomatic carriers
Both healthcare staff and patients are at risk of a range of infections, including:
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis C
HIV
Tuberculosis
Measles, Rubella and Chickenpox
Covid 19
