Two- Four Months
Lifts head 45 degrees when prone, hold head steady by 4 months
Follows objects with eyes, recognizes faces
Vocalizations and coos by 2-3 months, squeals by 4 months
Smiles, then laughs to show pleasure
Drools, chews, bites by 4 months

Five- Eight Months

Nutrition
First 6 months:
125-150 cc/kg/day for fluids
Breast feeding until at least a year, WHO says 2-3 years
Lactation consultant at hospital, encourage BF 30 after birth, encourage on demand
Solids around 4 months
Second 6 months:
120-135 cc/kg/day
No honey until 12 months
Cup @ 5-6 months
Sleep
Nocturnal sleep pattern by 3-4 months
9-11 hours at night by 4 months, 2 daily naps
Sleeps through the night by 12 months, 1-2 naps
Mortality
Birth defects Preterm birth Maternal complications with pregnancy SIDS Accidents (fires, burns, choking, MVA, toxins, drowning)
