A

Washington president
Rebellion occurs in PA
PA raises taxes on whiskey infuriating the people
Raised taxes because they didn’t have enough money to run the state
Threatened to kill tax collectors and burn down the gov. building in PA
Washington sends an army of 10,000 to crush the rebellion
Sent a message not to mess with America

War of 1812

A

Fort McHenry
Americans fight against the British, Brits think we are a joke
Out West, the Brits weren’t even supposed to be there
Building forts and egging on the Native Americans
In the ocean they were kidnapping people and forcing them into their Navy
The British sailed up the Chesapeake after defeating Washington and burning down the White House to take over Baltimore
The canons of Fort McHenry sunk enough ships to scare the British

A

Karl Marx was a German philosopher
Communism is militant or radical Socialism
He hated Capitalists but weren’t a big fan of Socialists because they were too nice or too slow
Didn’t want to shrink Capitalist’s yachts he wanted to sink them
He wanted to overthrow the owners believed the workers of the world who are suffering would get angry enough to wipe out the upper class
Communists want a revolution that will bring the big five

A lot of women were against feminists
The first and largest women’s convention
#1 issue was the right to vote
Terrible sexism
Many upper class women were involved in charity work because they couldn’t get involved in real work
Feminism is the belief that women are equal to men and should be treated as such

To transcend is to rise above or surpass
Transcendentalism is the belief that you can rise above the insanity of life and improve yourself as a person
WANT LESS
“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them”- Thoreau
Most people don’t live their dream and die with it still in them
Not really what they want to do (bills, rent, etc,)
Dream never lived
Did something other than your dream for many different reasons
