Intro -
Britain changed dramatically between 1750 and 1850 during the industrial revolution.
This paper will explore the consequences of the industrial revolution in Britain.
Consequences -
before the IR Britain’s main source of income was through agriculture and the main industries were cottage industries. all the land was shared and the infrastructure was very primitive. there was no interest in new inventions or technology. However, the industrial revolution changed all of this. Britain’s now made the majority of its income from manufacturing and mining. The main industries were now factories. this enabled Britain to produce more and generated more income, leading to a better economy. most of the people now lived in cities with proper infrastructure and worked in factories instead of farms. The IR also brought about the idea of the enclosure movement, which introduced private property. Britain was more industrialized and more interested in new technology and new inventions were invented. and because of the increase in the wealth of the economy, better health care and education services were provided. this slowly lead to the decrease in poverty and disease which meant a better standard of living.
