1750-1900
From agricultural base to industrial base.
Population increased, more people live in towns
Life expectancy rose.
More education
Why are children employed in the mills
Domestic system- children have to work at home anyway
Smaller and agile, easier for them to crow under the machine and repair broken threats.
Paid less, apprentices are not paid.
How were children treated in the factory
Long working hours, 13 hours or more.
Children often gets hungry and thirsty.
Always worked in uncomfortable position, which led them became cripples, and effecting their growth.
Conditions were bad- loose cottons flowing, dusty. Damaged the children’s lungs by chemicals and fumes.
Resting were strictly forbidden. Children work more, the more overseers are paid.

Factory Acts
1819 RO persuaded the parliament to pass a law ensure better environments for children, however there were too many oppositions, it wasn’t enforced.
By the times 1833 there were four inspectors around the country to check if they’d followed the law.
Until 1878, the law became effectively.
