INDONESIA’S WRITTEN CONSTITUTION
Indonesia has a written constitution that guides it representative democracy; it was ratified on 17 August, 1945.
STRUCTURE OF GOVERNMENT
The Constitution outlines the separation of power between the executive, judiciary and legislature.
CHANGING THE CONSTITUTION
The Indonesian Constitution can be changed by a proposed amendment being supported by one-third (1/3) of the MPR.
THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH
Citizens choose the president and VP for five (5) year terms;
The president is elected for a maximum of two (2) five-year terms.
The president nominates a cabinet, whose members are not required to be members of the legislature.
