What is Independence of the Judiciary?
A
Should not be controlled by the legislature or the executive and its decision should be binding on both the bodies. This allows judges to perform their duties without fear or favor towards anyone.

How is independence secured to the judges?
A
- guaranteeing them security of service
- guaranteeing fixed tenure of office
- paying adequate salary and giving facilities to ensure independence which is not dependent on the approval of the legislature or executive.
- Their conduct and decisions cannot be discussed by the parliament, allowing them to function without the fear of criticism
