Increment Flashcards
What is an Increment?
An Increment is a body of inspectable, Done work that supports empiricism.
The Increment is a tangible step towards achieving a Product Goal.
When is an increment created?
Whenever work meets the Definition of Done we have an Increment.
What state must the new increment be at the end of a sprint?
By the end of a Sprint, the new Increment must be Done, which means it must be in useable condition and meet the Scrum Team’s Definition of Done.
What is the increment a sum of?
The Increment is the sum of all the Product Backlog items Done during a Sprint and the Increments of all previous Sprints.
Who inspects the increment at the Sprint Review?
The Increment is inspected by the Scrum Team and stakeholders at the Sprint Review.
What must the Definition of Done include ?
The Definition of Done must include at least some level of testing to a pre-agreed level of quality to make transparent that the work is now in a usable state.
What is the latest time that an Increment must be done?
The end of the Sprint is the latest time an Increment should be Done. Reaching Done earlier and more often is a good practice. This further reduces risk and enables greater agility.
What happens to all incomplete Product Backlog items at the end of the sprint?
At the end of a Sprint, all incomplete Product Backlog items and work that did not meet the Definition of Done is put back on the Product Backlog.
When should an increment be released in a Sprint?
An Increment can be released whenever one has been created and it makes sense to do so. This may be at the end of a Sprint but it does not have to be.
