What is Part M of the Building Regulations?

A

Inclusivity requirements within this section. Covers access and use of buildings (both domestic and non-domestic) including for less less abled ‘Disability Compliant’. Requirements should include ramps and certain height steps, minimum openings, wheelchair access, access to toilets, etc.

What does the Equality Act 2010 introduce in terms of inclusive environments?

A

-‘Service Providers’ must make reasonable adjustements to help less able bodied persons access buildings if placed at significant disadvantage. Requirements during design stage and lift of building.

A

What is the National Planning Policy Framework?

A

Sets out Government planning policy in England and how it should be applied. Although visual appearance of building important, the inclusive design is to be paramount in all settings and developments - buildings, public and private space.
