What is incarnation?
The belief that God took form in Jesus.
What are gospels?
Books in the bible that are records of Jesus’ life.
Why did God have to come down to earth as Jesus?
Due to the original sin, Christians could only have a partial relationship with God so Jesus came down to get rid of the original sin and allow humans to have a full relationship with God.
What is the virgin birth? What does it show?
Mary was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Joseph is not Jesus’ father thus Jesus is God incarnate.
What is Jesus?
Fully human and fully divine.
What does Mark’s Gospel begin with?
John the Baptist baptising Jesus.
Matthew’s Gospel story?
1)An angel told Joseph that Mary was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
2)The baby should be named Jesus since he will save people from sin.
3)Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
4)King Herod heard about Jesus and thought he would steal the throne from him. He ordered all babies under 2 to be killed.
5)Joseph and his family fled to Egypt after being told by an angel.
6)They returned to Bethlehem after King Herod died.
Luke’s Gospel story?
1)Begins with the birth of John the Baptist.
2)The angel Gabriel tells Mary she’ll be conceived by the Holy Spirit.
3)Joseph and Mary travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem were Jesus is born.
4)After he is born they return to Nazareth.
John’s Gospel story?
Jesus was at the beginning of creation so the Gospel begins at the creation of the universe.
Proof of John’s Gospel?
‘in the beginning was the word’ ‘the word became flesh’
What would happen without the incarnation?
There’d be no Christianity and Christians wouldn’t be able to have a full relationship with God. Also they understand God better through Jesus.
