Cockpit/Cabin Fire

A

Symptoms
-Smoke or flames viable in the cabin or cockpit

  1. Alert crew
  2. Designate crewmember to fight fire
  3. Windows and vents - CLOSED
  4. Doors - CLOSED
  5. ECS - OFF
    - If fire continues:
  6. LAND IMMEDIATELY
    -If fire appears out:
  7. LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
    Perform Smoke and Fume Elimination procedure as necessary

Electrical Fire

A

Symptoms
-Acrid smell of burning electrical insulation
-Smoke, flames, and/or sparks viable in the cabin or cockpit

  1. Alert crew
  2. Designate crewmember to fight fire
  3. Affected equipment and associated circuit breakers - OFF/PULL
  4. Windows and vents - CLOSED
  5. Doors - CLOSED
  6. ECS - OFF
    - If fire persists
  7. Generators, converters, and/or other logical equipment - OFF
  8. LAND IMMEDIATELY
    - If fire appears extinguished
  9. LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE

Smoke And Fume Elimination

A
  1. Airspeed - 70 KIAS OR LESS
  2. Cabin door - OPEN
  3. Windows and vents - OPEN to blow air into cockpit
  4. Yaw aircraft to vent smoke and fumes

Emergency Landing (Aircrew)

A

Before Landing:

  1. Cargo doors and windows - OPEN OR JETTISON BEFORE LANDING
  2. Seat - FULL UP and AFT, FACING FORWARD
  3. Shoulder harness - LOCKED
  4. Legs - FORWARD, OUT FROM UNDER SEAT
  5. Brace for impact - BACK STRAIGHT, ARMS CROSSED WITH ELBOWS IN, HEAD AGAINST HEADREST

After Landing:

  1. If time permits, assemble and deploy raft and/or survival equipment
  2. Egress helicopter when rotor stops

Emergency Egress

A
  1. Reference point - Locate and remain calm
  2. SEAS bottle - Employ as required
  3. Emergency exits - Locate emergency release handles, push/pull and jettison
  4. ICS cord - Disconnect
  5. Reference point - Relocate and hold
  6. Seat belt/harness - Release
  7. Egress - Holding reference points, exit at right angles to the aircraft
  8. Life vest - Inflate as required when clear of the aircraft

Fuel Dump

A
  1. Crew - ALERT
  2. Communications- set all LPCAP TX knobs to ICS. Time permitting, transmit intentions and advise of radio silence during dumping
  3. HF Operating Mode - Manual
  4. ECS MODE switch - OFF
  5. FUEL DUMP switch - FUEL DUMP
  6. Monitor fuel gauges EICAS AND CDU
  7. FUEL DUMP switch - OFF (when desired fuel is dumped)

Note:

  • Fuel dumps at about 800 lbs/min
  • At fuel levels of 300 lbs or less I either main tank, fuel starvation may occur when pitch altitudes exceed 15 degrees nose up or down

  • VHF-AM: 121.5 MHz
  • UHF: 243.0 MHz
  • VHF-FM: 156.8 MHz (Channel 16)
  • HF: 4125 kHz, 6215 kHz
  • HF-ALE: ALL
